An Art Punk Chasing Every Horizon He Can See
In 2018, while filming a music video for a band I was in, I watched the videographer get to filming and thought "That looks like a fun hobby that wont affect my life's trajectory at all".
I heard a faint laughing from somewhere up in the sky, opened up my first credit card, and bought a camera.
Now I'm here, documenting weddings is what I've built my life around. It's taken me all around the country, to incredible experiences, and now to you.
I'm a San Diego native who has made exactly zero progress in beating the "So Cal West Coast" stereotypes.
I grew up on the beach, playing in punk bands, living burrito to burrito, devouring every book in a five mile radius, and going to the movies as much as I could.
Pretty much none of that has changed except that I now travel all around the country pointing my cameras at people in love.
I'm still living in San Diego with my fiancée and a rabbit that rules over our house with an iron paw*.
My view of the world has been changed since I started looking at it through a lens.
What started as a fascination with a new art form turned into something that's shaped who I am, my connection to the past, and how I want to move through and be remembered by this world.
Looking to the past serves as a touchstone. A reminder of how far we've come, where we want to go, and who we want to be. This is the cornerstone of my photography.
When we don't quite remember who we are, when things don't seem so clear cut, when we just feel a little lost, looking backwards helps us move forward.
I can often be found in any number of my natural habitats engaging in enrichment activities like:
- Playing loud, fast guitar in loud, fast bands
- Getting outsmarted by my players in my latest D&D Campaign
- Falling face first down 97% of a snowy mountain and calling it snowboarding
- Thinking far too much about the specifics of the magic system in whatever fantasy book I've read recently
- Hanging out with my rabbit (He is cooler than me)
- Eating my body weight in Dole Whip at Disneyland
- Playing competitive Magic: The Gathering (I am who I am)
- Climbing every rock I can see in every national park possible
- Helping my friends make movies and music videos whenever I can sneak on set
- Making "adventure films" when the people I love and I go do cool things
